Block Print Your Clothes! with Happitat

Want to give your clothes new life, expand your creative practice, or simply slow down with a new craft? Learn the basics of linocut and fabric printing in this beginner-friendly workshop with Anna of Happitat!

You’ll create your own design, hand-carve a custom linocut stamp, and use it to print onto fabric and clothing.

In this workshop learn:

• The basic tools and materials needed for block printing on fabric
• How to transfer your hand-drawn design onto linoleum
• Techniques for safely and efficiently carving your stamp
• How to properly roll and apply ink for a clean print
• How to prepare fabric for printing
• Tips and techniques for printing your design onto fabric

Bring: your own clothing to spruce up something you already own, or purchase a blank to print on. We recommend bring cotton-based, lighter-colored fabrics, as we will be printing with black, and/or red ink.

All other materials are included. No prior experience needed. Let’s create together! :)

Please note this event starts 6:30 pm, unlike most of our other classes!

* The printed fabric will take about 2 days to dry to the touch and 1 week to fully cure before becoming washable. Students can carefully take their pieces home that day, pick up the week after class is also an option!

About Your Instructor:

Anna (she/her) is the artist behind Happitat, a creative studio focused on creating a happier habitat through creativity, upcycling, and community reuse. Through monthly clothing swaps, live block printing, and upcycled pieces, she encourages people to get creative with what they already have and give old things new life.

Outside of Happitat, Anna is a muralist and illustrator. She is passionate about all things art and creative entrepreneurship, and loves connecting with others, building community, and making the world a little more whimsical!

Due to changes in Washington State tax law (ESSB 5814) live presentations, including classes and workshops, are now subject to sales tax.

Age Restriction ✨
All guests must be 18+ to attend.

Masking Policy 😷
By purchasing a ticket, you agree to City Folk’s Mask Policy and understand that you or someone in your class can anonymously request that the entire class wear a face mask by emailing hello@cityfolkcraft.com. You will honor that request by wearing an available City Folk-provided mask or KN95 you bring.

Accessibility ♿️
Our beautiful but old building has some accessibility constraints, including a lack of elevator. There is a ramp, though it is not ADA graded. Our studio is 1225 square feet and equipped with various air purifiers including an Oransi Erik 650A. Please email us hello@cityfolkcraft.com with any questions or accessibility requests!

Refunds 🚫
All ticket purchases at City Folk for events, workshops, classes, clubs or otherwise are non-refundable unless the class is canceled by the studio. Please double check your calendar!

Sick Policy 🤒
Please DO NOT COME to any workshop or club if you are actively sick. If you are visibly ill, you will be asked to leave. You are welcome to give/swap your ticket to a friend (see below).

Swapping Tickets 🎟️
If for some reason you are unable to attend, you are welcome to transfer your ticket to someone else! We are unable to refund and all payments are final. Just let us know by sending us an email at hello@cityfolkcraft.com with the name and contact info of your friend.  City Folk assumes that the receiving friend has read agreed to all policies that the ticket purchaser has agreed to. It is the responsibility of the original purchaser to communicate these policies to the receiver.
