Beginner Knitting Series: Sophie Scarf

Mon Nov 30, 2026 7:00 PM - Mon Dec 14, 2026 9:00 PM City Folk, 98122
In this Beginner Knitting series, we will cover all the fundamentals you need to complete a project from start to finish! We will be making the popular Sophie Scarf by Petite Knit, a small but mighty scarf that’s a wonderful transitional staple to have in your wardrobe. You’ll learn to read a knitting pattern, cast on, knit, purl, increase, decrease, bind off, weave in ends, and block your project. Note: This is a recurring class and takes place on November 30, Dec 7, and November 14.

This class will be a good fit for you if you:

♥︎ Are an adventurous* beginner, willing to push through the discomfort that comes with learning a new skill
♥︎ You are excited to practice knitting outside of class (this is not required, but highly encouraged – particularly if you want to leave class with a finished product!)

Materials List
Please come to class having purchased:

♥︎ The Sophie Scarf Pattern by Petite Knit (~$5)
♥︎ US 5/3.75mm or US 6/4mm needles (this is larger than noted on the pattern)
♥︎ 1 skein DK/Worsted weight yarn

If you have any questions about the materials, we recommend shopping in person at a local yarn shop (like our neighbor, Stitches) to get a feel for the yarn and color, as well as help from the kind folks working there (you can tell them you need yarn to make a Sophie Scarf and they will point you in the right direction). Or email us at hello@cityfolkcraft.com

*If you are a hesitant beginner, we recommend you start with our Knitting 101 class
